Rebrand – answers to frequently asked questions

Rebrand – answers to frequently asked questions

Why did you change your name?
To better serve our members, we recognized the need for growth, which was challenging with our previous name. Many people don’t know what a credit union is or mistakenly believe they must work for a specific company to join ours. We sought a name that eliminates that confusion and aligns with our mission, vision, and values. We believe our new name will enhance our ability to serve current members, expand our reach, and allow us to make an even greater impact for our members and our communities.

Why did you choose the name “Rize” and why is it spelled this way?
Rize came from our belief that financial security unlocks human potential. The spelling with the use of the letter “z” connects the name to our mission of helping members “realize” their potential and empowering all to reach lasting financial security.

Has the Credit Union ever changed their name before?
Yes – in fact, there have been several name changes:

  • 1952 – founded as Local 47 Federal Credit Union

  • 1979 – Southern California Edison Company Employees Federal Credit Union
  • 1991 – SCE Federal Credit Union (also known as SCE Credit Union)
  • 2024 – Rize Federal Credit Union (also known as Rize Credit Union)

Was the Credit Union sold?

What does Rize Beyond Banking mean?
Rize Beyond Banking is going beyond the ordinary, transforming the traditional banking experience into a journey of realizing potential. Members become part of something greater – an organization dedicated to growth, empowerment, and realizing potential, for our members and our communities.

Will there be a Spanish translation of Rize Beyond Banking?
We won’t be translating Rize Beyond Banking, but here’s a way the sentiment can be described:

En Rize vamos más allá que los bancos. Como decimos, it’s time to Rize Beyond Banking.

(At Rize, we go further than banks. As we say, it’s time to Rize Beyond Banking)
