Building member relationships with heart, patience, and purpose
When Melisa Cabral joined Rize Credit Union in 2019, she brought more than banking experience – she brought heart. As a Member Representative at our Irwindale location, Melisa supports members with everything from day-to-day transactions to opening new accounts. And because she’s bilingual in Spanish, she’s able to help even more people feel confident and understood in their financial journey.
“I basically do it all,” she says with a smile. “I make sure members are happy with the service they receive, and I love building relationships with them. That connection is what keeps people coming back – and referring their friends and family.”
Before joining Rize, Melisa worked part-time as a teller at Wells Fargo. She was looking for more hours and new opportunities when she stumbled across a job posting for a teller position at SCE FCU (now Rize Credit Union) in Duarte. “I applied thinking nothing would come of it,” she recalls. “A few days later, Cindy from HR called me – and the rest is history.”
Melisa’s first job was at Burger King, working full-time as a high school junior while balancing her classes. “I was determined to pay for my senior activities and help my mom with bills,” she says. “Fast food isn’t easy, but I’m glad I did it. It taught me patience, kindness, and how to treat people.”
Today, Melisa is a proud mom of two boys – Liam, age three, and Luca, just nine months. She and her husband love taking the kids on family outings to Disneyland, Dodger games, and San Diego. They also share their home with their dachshund, Shotzy, who keeps things playful.
As for the words she lives by:
“There will always be ups and downs in life, but always be grateful for new opportunities. Don’t worry so much about the future – live in the moment and enjoy every day like it’s your last. Un día a la vez.”
We’re lucky to have Melisa on our team, and we’re grateful for the care and positivity she brings to our members every day.
