That’s the motto Joseph Reyes lives by – reminding himself to maintain a high standard of excellence in every task, big or small. And as an Underwriter/Buyer with Rize Credit Union’s Central Lending team, Joseph brings that commitment and work ethic to every loan application he reviews.
Joseph plays a vital role in both our direct and indirect lending programs. He works closely with dealership finance teams and vendors, helping resolve complex issues and ensuring a smooth process from start to finish. For Joseph, it’s not just about the numbers – it’s about building relationships, solving problems, and helping stay competitive in the auto lending space. “I absolutely love what I do,” he shares. “It’s rewarding to help our team shine and keep Rize CU at the forefront of leasing and retail auto lending.”
His professional journey began working for his dad’s landscaping and tree trimming business, followed by his first corporate role in collections at Bank of America. Over the years, Joseph gained valuable experience at CU Direct Lending (CUDL) before joining. “I like to grow every two to three years,” he says. “The credit union I worked for before didn’t have room for advancement, but Rize aligned perfectly with my goals and values.”
When he’s not working, Joseph enjoys the great outdoors – hiking with his dog Draco, fishing, and catching Dodger games whenever he can. He recently married and describes his wife as “amazing on so many levels.” His kids are currently thriving in college: his daughter is a psychology major at UCLA, and his son is studying engineering and computer science at Cal Berkeley. Looking ahead, Joseph dreams of one day retiring to the countryside, where he can grow his own fruits and vegetables and enjoy a peaceful, slower pace of life.
While he speaks mostly English, he jokes that he knows just enough Spanish to order food – with a smile, of course. 😊
