The holidays bring cheer, connection, and (unfortunately) a rise in scams. Every year, fraudsters get sneakier with fake shopping sites, phony delivery alerts, and too-good-to-be-true deals. But with a little awareness, you can stay one step ahead and keep your money safe.

Watch for fake delivery alerts

Scammers love sending texts or emails that look like they’re from USPS, UPS, or Amazon. They’ll say a package couldn’t be delivered and ask you to click a link or enter payment details. Don’t do it – instead, go directly to the shipper’s official website or app to track your package.

Stick with trusted retailers

Fraudsters set up convincing fake websites and social media ads offering deep discounts on popular items. Before you buy, double-check the URL, look for contact info, and search for reviews. If something feels off, it probably is.

Keep your devices secure

Use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication where possible. Avoid shopping or banking on public Wi-Fi – scammers can intercept your data faster than you can say “add to cart.”

Turn on Card Controls for instant protection

Activate Card Controls in digital banking for real-time control over your Rize debit and credit cards. You can turn cards on or off instantly, set spending limits, and receive alerts every time your card is used. It’s an easy way to monitor activity and stop fraud in its tracks.

Slow down and stay skeptical

Fraudsters rely on urgency – “act now,” “limited time,” “your account is locked.” Take a breath, double-check, and when in doubt, call the company or us directly.

At Rize, we want your holidays to be filled with joy – not fraud. Stay alert, shop smart, and remember we’re always here to help protect what matters most.

Your password is private – keep it safe!
We’re committed to protecting your account from fraud. Remember, we will NEVER call, email, or text you to ask for your password under any circumstance. If you receive any communication asking for personal information while impersonating the Credit Union, do not respond. Instead, contact us immediately at 800.866.6474.
