Bringing creativity & connection to everything she does

As Brand Manager, Heather Steele wears many hats – managing Rize’s social media presence, building relationships with influencers, and creating promotions that connect with members and the community. She also supports partnerships and events across California, collaborating with Social Impact, Business Development, HR, and other teams. On top of that, she helps bring Rize’s values to life in every space, creating places where members feel at home. “There’s truly not an aspect of my role here at Rize that doesn’t bring me joy on a daily basis,” Heather shares.

Her journey in the credit union industry spans more than two decades. Starting at a smaller institution gave her the chance to experience a wide range of departments, strategies, and operations. That foundation helped her discover her passion for marketing, shaping both her education and career path. Joining Rize expanded her opportunities even further, unlocking new ways to grow and make an impact. “I’ve seen firsthand how credit unions live by the motto ‘People helping people.’ My role at Rize has allowed me to bring that philosophy to life in fresh and creative ways.”

Heather’s first job after high school was as a Courtesy Clerk at Ralphs. She still remembers how valuable it was to have steady work with benefits while attending school during the day. For a naturally shy person, she appreciated tasks that gave her quiet time – collecting carts from the farthest corners of the parking lot or deep-cleaning the meat department after hours in a full hazmat suit. “I still love the smell of sanitation spray and hours of uninterrupted cleaning,” she laughs. Those early experiences taught her resilience, responsibility, and a strong work ethic that continues to guide her today.

Outside of work, Heather finds joy in spending time with her husband, son, and extended family in the South Bay, where she was born and raised. On weekends, you might find her strolling The Strand, enjoying the beaches, or exploring the beauty of Idyllwild. She also loves fellowship at her church, taking in the magic of Disneyland, and volunteering with some of her favorite people. Heather and her husband are also proud fur-grandparents to two cats and squeeze in travel whenever they can – often with a Dodger game along the way.

When it comes to life lessons, Heather has two favorites: “I started using the term #YOLO sarcastically, but, cheesy as it is, it’s a great reminder to live life to the fullest and embrace the present instead of longing for the past or worrying about the future. Another one I can’t resist is #GodsPlan; it’s another corny yet comforting way to remind myself that everything will work out as it’s meant to.”

We’re grateful for Heather’s creativity, commitment, and community spirit – she helps bring the Rize brand to life every day.
